General Contractor — Vector Mais
Project — Openbook
Project Management — DDN
Size — 16.000 m²
Location — Lisboa

Vector Mais played a central role in the execution of the BNP Paribas Hub in Parque das Nações, taking responsibility for the complete fit-out of the Aura building as well as three areas within the Lumnia building, in an intervention covering more than 16.000 m². As the general contractor, Vector Mais oversaw every stage of the interior construction process, from technical implementation and coordination of specialist works to the final finishes, integrating comfort, environmental and ergonomic solutions aligned with the highest quality standards.

Developed from the interior architecture project by Openbook, the space results from an in-depth workplace design study, translating a flexible office concept that balances collaborative areas with zones dedicated to focus and concentration. The spatial organisation was designed to optimise flows, create rhythm and respond to the needs of a contemporary, dynamic and constantly evolving work environment.

The project stands out for its use of natural materials and textures, particularly stone and wood finishes, combined with a colour palette where neutral tones are accented by shades such as terracotta and green. Across the different floors, workspaces are interspersed with interaction zones — the “highlighted areas” — which incorporate café spaces and encourage communication and well-being.

Among the most distinctive spaces is the canteen, where natural light takes centre stage within a carefully designed environment of soft tones, and the reception area, which stands out for its generous ceiling height and the combination of materials that provide solidity and identity to the space. In the Lumnia building, the multifunctional auditorium, adaptable through the use of curtains, further reinforces the versatility and functionality of the project.

A project that reflects an integrated and contemporary approach to the workplace, materialising BNP Paribas’ vision for a more flexible, efficient and people-centred corporate environment.

“The creation of the EXEO Hub marked a historic milestone in BNP Paribas’ more than 40 years in Portugal, not only because of the commitment it represents towards the country and its people, but also because it is a key element in a transformation project aimed at bringing together all Group employees into just three hubs.”

What is the importance of creating the BNP Paribas hub in Parque das Nações?
The creation of the EXEO Hub marked a historic milestone in BNP Paribas’ more than 40 years in Portugal, not only because of the commitment it represents towards the country and its people, but also because it is a key element in a transformation project aimed at bringing together all Group employees into just three hubs: Exeo (Lisbon), Colombo (Lisbon) and URBO (Porto). More than a real estate project, it is about how — as individuals, as an institution and as part of society — we live, work and develop, both inside and outside the workplace. The EXEO Hub has strengthened BNP Paribas Portugal’s ability to provide its teams with more efficient, collaborative and flexible working solutions, consolidating its position as a Group while amplifying its impact on society and the planet.

How was BNP Paribas’ corporate culture reflected in the office?
From employee involvement in the decision-making and development process, to the focus on sustainable construction materials, energy efficiency and the creation of reuse structures, the entire project development was deeply centred on the essence and values of BNP Paribas Portugal. The architectural and equipment planning, which prioritised collaborative spaces and digital development, the investment in green and leisure areas, and even the choice of location — ensuring accessibility and improved transport solutions — are just some examples of how a culture focused on people, innovation, the planet and society was materialised in this project.

“Vector Mais’ experience in fit-out projects was a determining factor in meeting the deadlines for this project, without compromising the high technical demands or the quality of the finishes. I would particularly highlight the care taken in integrating infrastructures and equipment into the designed spaces, as well as the attention and availability demonstrated by the site management and project preparation teams in responding to the challenges of the Openbook project. This alignment enabled genuine teamwork, which significantly enriched my professional experience.”

What was BNP Paribas’ brief and how was it applied to the project?
With its new offices in Parque das Nações, BNP Paribas sought to concentrate a significant part of its Lisbon operations within a true cosmopolitan campus — a space where employees would feel at home, enjoy a higher quality of life and benefit from a closer connection to nature.

The response involved organising the workspaces into smaller-scale open-space units, with calm environments and neutral tones that encourage focus. These are interspersed with more dynamic and vibrant areas designed for meetings, collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

In addition, several lounge and social spaces were created throughout the building, encouraging interaction between teams. The cafés play a central role as inclusive spaces where different cultures and lifestyles intersect without hierarchy, fostering an environment of respect and empathy. Within these spaces, a strong connection to the outdoors, the campus green areas and the river was sought, creating a balance between the intensity of work and moments of pause.

Which environments stand out in the office?
I would particularly highlight the multifunctional spaces that complement the office floors, clearly materialising BNP Paribas’ culture as a banking institution with a youthful, multifaceted and adaptable positioning.

These spaces were designed to accommodate different formats, ranging from a more traditional auditorium, to the Portugal Lab with flexible furniture configurations, and a multifunctional area featuring a show-cooking space and a terrace open to the city. This versatility allows the spaces to respond to multiple contexts and working dynamics.

At the same time, a sober and elegant character is maintained through the use of materials such as stone and wood, combined with a language of straight and rhythmic lines. Comfort within these large spaces is reinforced through the lighting design and the presence of a dark green tone evocative of BNP Paribas’ identity.
