General Contractor — Vector Mais
Project — Vera Lucena Architecture & Design
Size — 5.300 m²
Location — Porto
After delivering Euronext’s first office in Porto in 2017, Vector Mais returned to the city to build the company’s latest workspace. Located in the former facilities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the new technology and services hub, designed to accommodate around 500 employees, transforms the iconic historic Pharmacia building into a modern workplace.
Spread across three floors with mezzanines, the office features a wide range of work environments, including meeting rooms, phone booths, pantries, and lounge areas, all tailored to the needs of different teams. The reception area retains its original grandeur, with generous ceiling height and marble flooring, and provides access to the cafeteria and auditorium. The social area stands out as the heart of daily life for employees, featuring chequered flooring, acoustic ceilings, large windows, wooden joinery, and circular sofas.
The auditorium, with capacity for over 100 people, is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, wooden acoustic ceilings, and movable partitions, allowing great flexibility for events and presentations.
Each space was designed to create inspiring, functional, and versatile environments that foster collaboration and well-being, while reflecting Euronext’s corporate philosophy and adapting to new ways of working.

“Vector Mais’ performance was very positive, especially considering the demanding execution timeline. Throughout the entire process, the team demonstrated great dedication, professionalism, and commitment, closely overseeing the project through to the office opening. This availability and involvement were key to ensuring the quality of the final result.”
What is the importance of this new office for Euronext?
This new office represents an important milestone for Euronext, as it reflects our ambition to create a space aligned with our identity, values, and way of working. It is more than a physical move: it is an investment in our people, in collaboration, and in the creation of an environment that supports growth and innovation, while maintaining a strong connection to the city and its heritage.
And how is it influencing the way you work?
The new space has had a very positive impact on our teams. The layout promotes greater proximity between teams, collaboration, and flexibility, without compromising areas for focus and concentration. We feel that the office better supports different working styles and strengthens the sense of belonging and day-to-day knowledge sharing.
Does having a modern office in a century-old building add significance to this project?
Yes, it adds very special meaning. This project reflects the importance of understanding and respecting our roots in order to confidently shape the future. Working in a historic building, preserving its identity while integrating modern solutions, clearly symbolizes this balance between legacy and innovation. It is a way of honoring the past while creating a space prepared for Euronext’s future challenges and ambitions.

Project Manager | Vector Mais
“The project’s main challenge was, above all, the extremely ambitious execution timeline requested by the client for a development of this scale. This required the team to maintain a strong focus on control and close supervision of all aspects, activities, and stakeholders involved in the project.”
What was the brief for this project, and how was the client’s vision translated into the office?
The space was designed to accommodate the entire structure previously located at the Avenida da Boavista offices. Euronext’s objective was to create a building with an iconic and distinctive image. The Pharmacia building made it possible to deliver a dynamic, efficient, diverse, and attractive space for the teams who will use this new workplace, one that encourages collaboration, innovation, and interaction, while fostering Euronext’s strategic and corporate culture as well as employee well-being. Vector Mais’ role as general contractor was fundamental in translating both the client’s programme objectives and the architectural vision for the building into reality.
Which construction details stand out in this project?
From a construction standpoint, the project is distinguished by the extensive custom-made work in carpentry, metalwork, wall finishes, and ceiling systems. From a functional and aesthetic perspective, the project achieves a strong sense of movement and spatial flow, made possible by the generous ceiling heights on each floor and the presence of mezzanine “additional spaces,” interconnected by stair cores. This layout enables a wide variety of environments throughout the building for collaboration, interaction, concentration, and socialising.
