Wire Chair

The Wire Chair, more specifically the DKR (the version with a metal seat and 'Eiffel Tower' legs), is one of the most recognized creations by designers Charles & Ray Eames and one of our favourite pieces. Produced by Vitra, DKR was launched on the market in 1951, demonstrating designers' fascination for industrial processes and innovation.

Produced with more than 30 meters of steel wire and 300 welding points, the chair combines comfort, functionality and a sculptural design. Featuring the same volumetry as the Eames Plastic Chairs, the DKR is particularly appealing for its transparency and incredible lightness. These same attributes, combined with its strength and stability, made DKR an obvious choice for some projects where Vector Mais supplied the furniture.

In the Anexo project, located in Torre Monsanto, the DKR chairs were used indoors and outdoors, complementing the organic and industrial environment of the restaurant. Finally, in the Alto de Santa Catarina house project, the Vitra chairs are one of the main elements in the dark-toned kitchen. Here, the DKRs with leather seats underline the modernity and elegance of the space through their smooth lines and timeless shape.

Available in chrome version (indoors) or painted (can be used outside) in black or white. The seat may have a circular fabric or leather cushion. It is also available in the 'bikini' version, with a cushion on the seat and back.
